As the New Year arrives those ever important New Year's Resolutions begin to pop out of the woodwork and everyone jumps on board with a list of achievements they want to reach in the new year. But... What are you willing to give up to achieve those goals?

Reality says that your schedule is already past full, so what can you do more than you're already doing? Can you realistically plan to achieve goals you don't have time for?

If your goal is to lose weight, you can feasibly give up chocolate, desert, and extra calories during the day, but exercise requires time and effort. Are you really going to give up an hour of sleep each night to exercise? Where else can you "buy that time"? Is it possible to give up lunch hours for the gym? What about that hour of down time after work, would it be better spent riding a stationary bike at the office and taking a later (possibly faster) commute home from the office?

If your goal is to spend more time with your children, can you identify that time? Perhaps you can take them to the gym? Or better yet, put up a hoop on the drive and spend an hour or two shooting hoops for some one on one exercise time and improve your kid time too?

Better education? Oh my, that's a doozy of a goal. Try adding 8 - 10 more hours to your week with that one. The average online school recommends you spend 8 - 10 hours a week working on class work.
The point is to schedule goal achieving time as you write your goals and resolutions for the new year in order to increase your opportunities for success. Don't waste your time writing resolutions you don't intend to achieve.
