Mitre Sensation Training Football is new sesoan training balls

Mitre's new Sensation training ball has 32 panels rather than the traditional Mitre 18 panel design so technically should be rounder. The Sensation has a nice, Match Ball type softness and the foam backed pvc material is apparently designed to retain it cushioned feel even when cold.

I've bought 5 of these as training balls and have had them pumped up for about a week. The air retention appears good and the ball are nice to use in training, particularly if practicing heading. I have used one as a match ball and it coped well although it was a bit lively on the bounce and could possibly cause keepers problems. Having said that none of the players complained.

The only downside I have seen so far is that the colored decor doesn't hold up to well and became smudged fairly quickly.

Overall, a nice ball and if you shop around you can get for cheaper than the inferior Calcio or Malmo. 5 stars for a training ball, 4 for a match ball. Highly recommended.

Very happy with the suitability of this ball for my 6-year old. Whilst it is soft-feel it's neither squidgy or overly dense. It behaves well in use, rolls true on a hardwood floor, and seems a good weight. A very decent price too when you assess the shop-bought alternatives.

Service: I need to say a special word about the service from Safari Sports; the first ball we received was defective, but as it was purchased in advance as a gift, I only advised the company of this fault more than 3 months after purchase. They replaced the ball and refunded return postage with no issue amd with great speed. That's Internet selling done the *right* way. Thank you.

Decent training ball:Mitre Malmo Training Football

I'm comparing this against the Mitre Tactic which is a similarly priced training ball which I also own. They are both actually quite different beasts, and I'll explain why.

The Malmo flies further and is easier to kick than the Tactic. The tactic is heavier and harder to kick.

The Malmo has a smoother, quite hard surface, made of a PVC type material, whereas the Tactic is made of a dense vulcanised rubber. The difference this makes is that on harder surfaces, the Malmo rolls smoother and doesn't rub when rebounding so it's trajectory can be more straight.

Both are hard wearing balls. Having tested and played with both these balls on concrete and against walls repeatedly (the most abrasive condition/surface) The Tactic is more durable as it appears almost indestructible. The Malmo is quite hard wearing, although if used against an abrasive surfaces/walls wears down quicker than the Tactic as the surface of the PVC is marginally more easily split/scratched than the Tactic, although it can still take a fair bit of punishment, and it'll certainly last much longer than any cheap brand ball, and technically The Malmo is not an all surface ball whereas the Tactic is.

I bought a few of these to try them out but found it difficult to differentiate them from the Calcio, with the same advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side it retains air well, but on the negative side tends to go rock hard and never recovers from the cold.

Personally, I would recommend the Mitre Tactic as a good all round training ball, suitable for all surfaces and very durable. It has a nice cushioned feel which lasts well passed the point when the Calcio and Malmo become painful to head.

I bought one of these in yellow as a gift for an 8 year old - but once pumped up it was clearly damaged along the stitching and could not hold the air. I contacted the seller, who asked me to return the item (at my own cost) but said I had more than likely caused the damage myself by over-inflating the ball and so would not get a refund. There is no way this is possible as a football coach inflated it for me, and not fully, as he said it was safer for young children that way!

Hence, all in all, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a football, and to a company where the postage is free in the first place, as are the returns!

Amazon itself is a fantastic company and should only allow sellers with similar great customer service to trade via their website.
Very disappointing. Avoid.

Kickmaster Quick Up Goal And Target Shot - Yellow/Black

As the New Year arrives those ever important New Year's Resolutions begin to pop out of the woodwork and everyone jumps on board with a list of achievements they want to reach in the new year. But... What are you willing to give up to achieve those goals?

Reality says that your schedule is already past full, so what can you do more than you're already doing? Can you realistically plan to achieve goals you don't have time for?

If your goal is to lose weight, you can feasibly give up chocolate, desert, and extra calories during the day, but exercise requires time and effort. Are you really going to give up an hour of sleep each night to exercise? Where else can you "buy that time"? Is it possible to give up lunch hours for the gym? What about that hour of down time after work, would it be better spent riding a stationary bike at the office and taking a later (possibly faster) commute home from the office?

If your goal is to spend more time with your children, can you identify that time? Perhaps you can take them to the gym? Or better yet, put up a hoop on the drive and spend an hour or two shooting hoops for some one on one exercise time and improve your kid time too?

Better education? Oh my, that's a doozy of a goal. Try adding 8 - 10 more hours to your week with that one. The average online school recommends you spend 8 - 10 hours a week working on class work.
The point is to schedule goal achieving time as you write your goals and resolutions for the new year in order to increase your opportunities for success. Don't waste your time writing resolutions you don't intend to achieve.

A Brief History of the Adidas Brand

By Jack Hill
Adi Dassler invented the Adidas brand during the 1920s; the brand name is an abbreviated version of his name. Adi was an avid sports fan, but also a manufacturer of shoes, and he had a vision: to invent trainers that would allow a sportsperson to perform at an optimal level, while protecting the feet from injury by providing specialist, and supportive designs. This idea is second nature to our modern sensibilities, we consider it a given feature of sports clothes that they are protective and supportive, but of his era, this was a revolutionary idea.

Adidas trainers proved immensely popular, and within a short space of time, Adi Dassler's company were producing more than 100 pairs of trainers a day - quite a feat for a newly flourishing company. During the late 1930s, the Adidas brand began extending its range of merchandise; they began by creating trainers designed specifically for certain sports. For instance, they began manufacturing tennis shoes, ice skates, and golf.

When Adi Dassler first began trading under the Adidas brand name, he had a business partner, his brother, Rudolph. During the 1940s, their visions of how the company would proceed began to diverge, and they choose to take different paths. Adi continued with the creation of Adidas trainers, but his brother, Rudolph, founded a rival company: Puma. As a way of differentiating the two marks, Adi decided to add the three stripes, part of the iconic imagery of the Adidas brand.

During the 1950s, the Adidas brand truly came into its own. With the creation of its first range of football boots, complete with studs, the company attracted the attention of all the major football leagues throughout the world, which, of course, proved to be exceptionally lucrative.

Indeed, the Adidas brand designed the football boots worn by the winning team in the World Cup 1954, which took place in Switzerland. In the mid 1950s, 1956 to be precise, the Adidas brand became part sponsors of the Olympic Games in Melbourne, and needless to say, after this, there was no stopping them. Today, Adidas is one of the best-known brand names in the entire world, an incredible feat for such humble beginnings. New factories came in to existence regularly, and the brand spread throughout the capitalist world.

It was not until the 1960s, however, that Adidas extended its range and began manufacturing sports clothing. In 1963, they also began to expand their merchandise to encompass sports equipment too, if it was not for this move, we would not see Adidas footballs at major football sporting events - an image that has truly become iconic of the 'beautiful game'.

The 1970s saw the first 'Trefoil Logo' appearing on clothing, equipment, and footwear. Adidas incorporated the Trefoil Logo as a means for people to tell imitation Adidas goods, from the genuine articles. In the 1980s, the Adidas brand became involved in the wider cultivation and celebration of sports in general, Horst Dassler founded 'International Sports, Culture, and Leisure'.

2000 saw a return to previous Adidas styles of clothing, when the first Adidas Originals stores opened their doors in America and South Korea. Today, Adidas Originals continues to be an extremely popular fashion.

Football Training Equipment

By Nicole Roberts
Since so many different positions exist on the football field, there is a great deal of football training equipment that a coach will want to invest in before the season begins. At the same time, however, these coaches must find a way to be cost effective, since every position requires a different set of football equipment. By identifying the most important pieces of equipment for each position, a coach can increase his or her chances of maximizing practice time.

The first time of football training equipment to search for includes blocking and tackling dummies. These dummies can be used for both types of drills, as they are simply pads that are in the shape of a player. For blocking drills, the dummies can be attached to a blocking sled and the players will practice driving the dummy backwards. This simulates what you want your player to do when run blocking, as the further you can take the player away from the ball carrier, the better the end result. When using the dummy for tackling purposes, a coach can hold the dummy in place and the player can practice a form tackle. When you have multiple pieces of this football equipment, you can run a drill where the tackler will not know which dummy to tackle until the last second, which helps with decision making as well.

Another important piece of football training equipment is a ladder, which helps with a player's agility. The player will be forced to run through the ladder in a variety of different ways, which will help the player to keep his or her knees high while running. By working on the player's footwork with this football equipment, coaches can help ball carriers to become more elusive and defensive players to be able to adjust to elusive ball carriers on the other team.

Having a football holder is a vital piece of football training equipment for a kicker, as it allows the player to practice without having an actual holder present. This allows the player to practice for hours on his or her own and this increase in repetitions will surely lead to improvement. One drill that helps kickers out immensely is to practice kicking to a line on the field. This takes the uprights out of the equation for the time being and will improve the kicker's overall accuracy.
Quarterback remains the most important position on the field, so having the right football training equipment for this positions is very important. Throwing targets are particularly important because they allow the quarterback to practice his or her accuracy, without having to throw to a receiver. An important drill to use in conjunction with this football equipment is a sprint out pass, as it will improve the quarterback's mobility and his or her ability to throw on the run. Having the quarterback throw from his or her knees also helps with accuracy and can be used with these targets very easily.

What Style of Goalkeeper Gloves Do the Professionals Wear?

Sondico Match Goalkeeper Gloves Junior What Style of Goalkeeper Gloves Do the Professionals Wear?

By James Peter Russell
With so many different styles of Goalkeeping Gloves on the market the question I hear many Goalkeepers asking is this. 'What style of gloves is most popular with the pro's?'. Hopefully after reading the following article I will have answered some of your questions and helped you make the right choice next time you buy a pair of gloves.

Petr Cech:
Glove Manufacturer: Adidas

Style: Response Pro
To the untrained eye you may think that Petr Cech has been wearing The Adidas Fingersave Pro for the last season and a half. Unfortunately this is a massive scam by Adidas! Cech actually wears the Response Pro with 'Fingersave' printed on the back of the index finger. However this glove is not available in the shops. The Fingersave model retailing at around 60 has Petr Cech's name on the wrist strap. Very cunning plan to make money from Adidas. The Reponse Pro has a negative style palm and Cech has also been known to use yellow and green coloured palms as well as traditional white.

Gianluigi Buffon:
Glove Manufacturer: Puma
Style: Powercat 1.12
Buffon who was originally a Reusch wearer switched to Puma and became one of the lead names of the brand in the early 2000's. Again similar to Cech, the Powercat is a fingersave glove but Buffon chooses to wear the glove without the finger spines. Buffon's gloves feature a conventional flat style palm which is less popular these days especially in this country.

Ben Foster:
Glove Manufacturer: Sells
Style: Wrap Elite
With the weather conditions in Britain a large percentage of the keepers decide to wear roll finger palms. Ben Foster is no exception to this. Having been a proud endorsee of the Sells Wrap series since its early years he seems very comfortable with the roll finger palm.

Tim Howard:
Glove Manufacturer: Nike
Style: Premier SGT
Another keeper who has adapted a glove and put his own twist on it. The Nike SGT range traditionally has a laser cut palm which contours the shape of the palm. Tim Howards personalised ones have a flat palm but a rolled index finger. The glove is pre curved.

Brad Friedel:
Glove Manufacturer: Adidas
Style: Fingertip
'If it ain't broke don't fix it!' Brad Friedel has a been a long servant of the Adidas Fingertip. Featuring a roll finger style palm the gloves fingers are wrapped over the top to create a snug feel around every finger.

Football Training - Increasing Speed and Acceleration

Football Training - Increasing Speed and Acceleration

By Steve R. Tucker

Coaches across the board agree that speed is an essential component in any solid football player. Drills for increasing speed should play an important part in a football training program. However, being fast isn't the only important factor - players who can accelerate quickly will have more success on the field than those who run at top speeds over time.

Tips for Improving Acceleration
The following tips will not only help your players increase their speed - they will also show them how to get that quick burst they need to put them ahead of anyone else on the field.
  1. Strength Training: Stronger leg muscles mean more force to push against the ground with each stride. Putting time in the weight room to focus on the lower half of the body will increase a player's speed on the field. Weight training should have a significant part in a football training program.
  2. Speed of Contractions: Strength training will only increase speed if the athlete increases their speed of contractions, as well. Sprinting exercises over short distances will improve speed of contractions, as will plyometrics, or jump training.
  3. Running Mechanics: Most athletes, including football players, have never been taught running mechanics. Proper stance and technique will improve efficiency, which in turn will make for faster runners. Use the following tips as a guide for correct running mechanics, and remember that in football acceleration is more important than maintaining top speed:
    • Use the balls of your feet, not the toes or heels, to drive your foot off the ground.
    • Lean the whole body forward to propel yourself in the direction you want to go.
    • Focus on making short, powerful strides and pushing off the ground.
    • Pump the arms by pushing the elbow back, not forward.
    • Square your head with your shoulders and keep it still as you run.
    • After the first 10-15 yards, the stride should lengthen and form should relax. However, the player should still focus on propelling forward, remembering to use the balls of their feet and their arms to maintain top speed.
Accelerate to the Top
Speed is the difference between good football players and outstanding football players. Improving acceleration will guarantee a head start over the rest of the players on the field. It's true that some players are simply born fast. However, any player can increase their speed and acceleration if they are willing to work for it.
